David Larwill & Western Desert Artists Exhibition
On Tuesday January 22nd Australian artist, David Larwill débuted his work for the in the United States as part of a New York exhibition - ‘David Larwill & The Western Desert Artists – Australia New York 2008’. The exhibition was open to the public from January 22-25. The evening prior to the public opening, the Hon John Olsen Consul-General of Australia and Lisa Fox, founder of Lf8 Studios hosted a cocktail party and private dinner to celebrate the exhibition.

The show also featured sixteen of Larwill’s recent works inspired by Aboriginal culture, alongside twelve selected Aboriginal paintings from the Papunya Tula Collective in Alice Springs. The exhibition will take place at the Stephan Weiss Studio and was attended by fashion designer, Donna Karan as well as an eclectic mix of 400 guests from the cultural, business, fashion and arts industries.

Paul Rigby Retrospective
On January 23, a cocktail reception to celebrate and view a retrospective of the works of award winning cartoonist the late Paul Rigby AM whose quirky, stylised work graced the pages of the world’s great newspapers. Hosted by the Western Australian Government, the event was held at the Robert Steele Gallery and attended by 200 guests including Paul’s widow, Marlene Rigby, her five children, former New York Mayor Ed Koch and Col Allan, Editor in Chief of the New York Post.
BAM ‘In the Company of Actors’
The Brooklyn Academy of Music presented a screening of the Australian Documentary “In the Company of Actors” on January 23. The film features an ensemble of Australia’s finest actors, Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving, Anthony Weigh, Justin Clarke, Aden Young, Julie Hamilton and Annie Byron as they prepare to perform the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Hedda Gabler , at the prestigious Brooklyn Academy of Music.
In raw and intimate detail the documentary takes the audience behind the curtains to observe the actors immersed in the creative process in Sydney and New York.
