MESSAGE FROM THE CONSUL-GENERAL
In January, the best of Australian culture, fashion, food and business was celebrated in Los Angeles and New York with the single largest annual foreign country promotion in the United States – G’Day USA: Australia Week 2008. This year featured a bigger and more diverse program with over 25 events which were designed to educate and entertain Americans across the country. Festivities began in Los Angeles from January 17-21 and continued in New York on January 21-26. more

QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT WALK ON THE WILDSIDE BENEFIT
The opening event for the New York portion of the G’Day USA program was a benefit dinner for 330 guests at the magical Allen Room overlooking Columbus Circle at Jazz at Lincoln Centre. Sponsored by the Queensland Government, the event was held in partnership with Wildlife Warriors Worldwide, an organization started by the late Steve Irwin and dedicated to raising awareness for wildlife and conservation issues. more
MERINO 200 JACOB'S CREEK AUSTRALIA DAY GALA
Celebrating its 20th year, and in collaboration with G’Day USA, Australian Wool Innovators, Jacob’s Creek and Westfield, the American Australian Association (AAA) continued the long-standing tradition of the Australia Day Gala in New York. This year, the gala marked the official close of a successful G’Day USA program for 2008. The sold-out event was held at the historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel and attended by 1300 people from the Australian and American arts, government, business, and entertainment fields. more
